Sahil Arora, a notorious promoter of celebrity memecoins, has been banned from X amid mounting allegations of scams involving high-profile figures.
Sahil Arora's Social Media Ban
Sahil Arora, a well-known figure in the celebrity memecoin space, has faced significant backlash and scrutiny following his latest ban from the social media platform X. The account "@Habibi_Comm" was suspended after allegations of scam activities and the use of manipulated screenshots involving high-profile celebrities.
Arora's activities have reportedly involved using doctored screenshots of conversations with Australian musician Iggy Azalea to endorse various memecoins. Azalea, who has launched her own cryptocurrency, has distanced herself from Arora. Additionally, Olympian Caitlyn Jenner and American rapper Rich the Kid have publicly accused Arora of scamming them through memecoin promotions linked to their brands.
Unyielding Promotion of Alleged Fake Partnerships
Despite these serious accusations, Arora has continued to promote partnerships and launch new celebrity memecoins. On June 3, he touted a partnership with the cryptocurrency exchange BingX, which BingX has outright denied. A spokesperson for BingX told Cointelegraph via LinkedIn, "We’re not working with him."
Arora's promotions did not stop there. He also claimed a partnership with American hip hop artist Offset. However, Offset has accused Arora of fraud, despite previously having encountered Arora. According to screenshots obtained by Cointelegraph, a Solana-based memecoin project was introduced to Offset by Arora in March. This project sent $20,000 to an address provided by Arora, only for Offset to later claim he had not received the payment. The project now finds itself blocked by both Arora and Offset.
Continued Activity Despite Social Media Bans
Even after being banned from X, Arora is believed to be active on the platform through multiple accounts and has directed followers to a new account via his Telegram channel. This persistence highlights Arora's ongoing influence and activity within the celebrity memecoin space.
Before his social media ban, Arora had also been promoting relationships with other celebrities, including boxing legend Floyd Mayweather and actress Lindsay Lohan. These promotions have further fueled the controversy surrounding his activities and the legitimacy of the partnerships he claims to endorse.
Sahil Arora's actions and the subsequent responses from those involved underscore the challenges and risks within the celebrity memecoin market, raising important questions about the integrity and regulation of such promotions.
