30 Member Team
The list was publishedby the Ministry of Economic Development last Thursday. The announced team includes experts from various backgrounds, such as business, computer science, research and most importantly, law. Each member has been carefully chosen, keeping in mind their expertise and knowledge of blockchain technology.
The team includes major members like, Monaco Marco, head of blockchain excellence center PWC Italy, President Italian Association of Paying Services Providers Martino Maurizio and Head of telecom Italtel, Angiolini Giorgio. Giorgio also is a member of UN INFO, playing active role in the blockchain group by the United Nations. Vitale Marco, the head of blockchain firm Quadrans Foundation is also in the team.
Blockchain in Public and Private Sectors
The group’s formation was announced last September by the ministry, with intentions to “know, deepen and address the issue of distributed ledger technologies (DLT) and blockchain, as well as increase public and private investments in this direction.”
The team will work to see potential cases of blockchain use, develop the infrastructure such as technical and regulatory compliance and eventually promote the technology’s adoption.
Italy’s Deputy Prime Minster, had said in September, “Emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain are destined to radically change our lives, the society in which we live and the economic and productive fabric of the country. We have to decide which way to go.”
Italy is also cooperating with six other EU countries in developing the technology, with intentions of becoming the leader to totally revamp its economy.
