A co-founder & a CEO of Brave ($BAT) Software, Brendan Eich, noted the presence of an error in the Brave browser and promised to fix it.
The error was related to the following. When going to certain sites, the Brave browser autocompleted an affiliate link. Brendan's team developed Brave. Brendan said, they are creating a product that meets the people's interests. The browser does not collect user data, but the company also needs to earn something. So, the implementation of affiliate links was made.
AutoFill by default was only for the typed domain, not for any links on pages or any typed URLs with parts after the domain name. Brendan Eich, Brave CEO
At first, the problem was evident to the community members. The URL contained extra information like an affiliate link. This caused a lot of dissatisfaction among the community.
The community also supported Brendan's quick response to this issue.
The CEO's response left some unsatisfied and ready to opt-out of using the Brave browser.
Yet, it is an important step for the company to be able to recognize its mistake and attempt to fix them.
Brave is a free and an open-source web browser based on the chromium web browser. It is powered by the Blink engine, created by Mozilla Project's co-founder and JavaScript Creator Brendan Eich.
